Wedding poetry

Wedded Weather

Suppose a yearning couple’s dreaming search
For partnership found its perfect ending.
Could this be it? We join in nature’s church—
Sky, hills, trees — a congregation sending
Unvoiced prayers that great loves last, if bending.

This may be one short moment in our lives.
But here we flock, called upon to witness
A vast idea. To see how love contrives
To share itself in metamorphosis,
Gives us each a margin in its richness.

May this happy paddock long engender
The vows that sealed your two souls together.
With successive eighteenths of December,
May you scan ahead your wedded weather,
Sensing love endures . . . endures whatever.
